About ONWARDONWARD is an annual juried photography exhibition presented by Project Basho exclusively featuring the work of emerging photographers with unique vision and talent. Each year the selection for the exhibition will be judged by a notable photographer or another professional in the field. Theme for ONWARD is open and any photographic medium can be submitted for consideration. Selected photographer’s work is featured in a group show at Project Basho Gallery, and further recognition is awarded in the forms of opportunities for an exhibition at Project Basho Gallery. About JurorPeter Barberie: He is Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. His publications include Looking at Atget (Philadelphia Musuem of Art and Yale University Press, 2005), and the essay “Found Objects, or a History of the Medium, to No Particular End,” in Dreaming in Black and White: Photography at the Julien Levy Gallery (Philadelphia Museum of Art and Yale, 2006). Project Basho is a photography resource center located in Old Kensington in Philadelphia, PA. With the community darkroom as the locus of the program, Project Basho offers classes and workshops on historical processes and other formal issues in photography. |
